25 Star Wars Actors Who Are No Longer With Us

By Jay Anderson /

21. Sebastian Shaw

English actor Sebastian Shaw had a 65 year career as an actor, playwright, director, novelist, and poet. That alone is impressive, but consider also that Shaw took a brief break in his career to serve in the RAF as a Flight Lieutenant (his highest rank) during the Second World War. Beyond that, he worked with the Royal Shakespeare company, wrote original plays (his first was 1961's Take A Life), and had a key role in Return Of The Jedi: that of the unmasked Darth Vader, and the force ghost Anakin Skywalker. Shaw died of natural causes at the age of 89 in December, 1994. Great controversy would later erupt when George Lucas digitally imposed young Anakin (Hayden Christensen) over Shaw in the 2004 re-release of the movie.
