30 Funniest Movie Bloopers

Those times when famous actors got paid extensive amounts of money to laugh themselves stupid.

By Scott Fried /

Everybody loves movie outtakes and bloopers. Maybe it's because they humanize the stars we've chosen to exalt, painting them in a light where they're really no different from us. On the other hand, maybe it's just because they're funny. Either way, "gag reels" are a staple of DVD and Blu-Ray releases, and are likely to remain that way for the foreseeable future. Here we've scoured hours of footage online to find thirty of the absolute funniest blunders, jokes, and plain old crack-ups in filming history. Sure, they caused the director to yell for another take (or maybe even break from filming for the day), but they were still entertaining enough to commit to immortality. They'll live on as long as the films we've loved and lamented. As always, the "comments" space is there for you. Think we missed something, or gave a gaffe a bit too much credit? Just let us know. Now, sit back and enjoy the laughs! Be warned, there's much NSFW language here...

30. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

(at 2:45) The "Pirates of the Caribbean" films have formed one of the most successful movie franchises of the past century, grossing almost $4 billion dollars worldwide. Still, they're based off of a theme park ride, so it's probably best not to take them too seriously. Here, Johnny Depp does just that, throwing in some good ol' bestiality humor, brought to you by Disney.

29. Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

While these bloopers and outtakes are all relatively standard, they're catapulted into the "wow" stratosphere by the fact that the actors are all in full make-up throughout. Apparently, Guillermo Del Toro is not much for CGI when he can avoid it, and the result is a hilarious juxtaposition between monster and guy who forgot his lines.

28. Up In The Air

Frequent flier Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) has sacrificed his personal life for his business life, and he doesn't realize it until it's nearly too late. Still, with all the time he spends flying back and forth from corporate events and speaking engagements, you think he'd be used to a little turbulence. It never gets any easier.

27. Kill Bill, Vol. 1

The most violent scene in the ultra-violent Kill Bill, Vol. 1 occurs when Uma Thurman single-handedly cuts through the entire Crazy 88 gang. The gore was intentionally sensationalised to the point of becoming cartoonish, and Uma Thurman has an understandable reaction here after plucking out the eye of a would-be assailant.

26. Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines

(at 0:49) With his hulking physique and wooden delivery, it's little wonder that Arnold Schwarzenegger hit it big playing a robot. Still, the guy can deliver a one-liner, so when he busts one out during an action-filled scene in the much-maligned T3, it hits its mark €“ and is made all the more out-of-place by the iconic black leather jacket and sunglasses.

25. International House

(at 0:56) During the filming of the 1933 W.C. Fields vehicle, the actors were all simultaneously distracted €“ by the Long Beach, California, earthquake! Though there has since been speculation that this video is a re-enactment of the original jolt, it seems like a pretty convincing look at the actors and crew getting all shook up.

24. The Other Guys

(at 0:27) When Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson expects a "cut" before jumping off a fake building, he's the one that ruins the shot - but it doesn't change the fact that Samuel L. Jackson goes flying all by himself. There goes The Rock's shot at becoming an Avenger.
