13. Spider-Man Vs. Doctor Octopus - Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Not only is it one of the best superhero movies ever, but Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 also features the greatest fight in comic movie history. Watching Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus battle it out atop a speeding above-ground train with the grace of a well choreographed ballet is still just as exciting now as it was upon the film's initial release. Here, Spidey clashes with Doctor Octopus in a graceful foxtrot of spider moves and whipping tentacles. But the hero is forced to turn his attention from the duel at hand to stopping the runaway train in a task that would make Superman strain. Yet a dash of applied physics and a heaping helping of willpower saw him through. Simply everything comes together in this scene. Fantastic direction, a sweeping, grandiose musical score even a great super-villain quip. Not to mention the top notch effects which helped Spider-Man 2 receive the webheads sole Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The whole thing is a superb set piece and a supreme example of how to mount an action sequence.
