13. Red Skull - Hugo Weaving (Captain America)

The first Captain America may not be a top-tier MCU film for most, but it benefited hugely from its big bad, Red Skull.

Where to begin? Hugo Weaving is both hammy and menacing in the part, the make-up effects are insanely good, and he basically feels like an Indiana Jones Nazi villain throwback through and through.

If that's not enough, Red Skull is also a more complex character than first glance might suggest. For one, if you thought that Johann Schmidt was just another Nazi baddie, you're dead wrong: Hitler exiles him due to his facial deformities, and so he actually leaves the Nazi party, creating HYDRA instead.

There have been countless rumours about Red Skull being resurrected in a future movie as per the comics, but it remains to be seen so far.
