Mockingjay Part 1 concludes with Peeta being rescued from the Capitol's Tribute center, but when Katniss goes to see him, he immediately breaks out into a vicious rage, attempting to strangle her death. Just as she falls unconscious, Boggs manages to knock him out, and it's then revealed that Peeta has essentially been brainwashed, his memories of Katniss altered to transform her into a threat. This somewhat clarifies Peeta's peculiar behaviour throughout the film as viewed from Capitol video feeds, where he urges the revolutionaries to give up, though crucially still gives them the eight minute warning to evacuate before the Capitol attacks District 13.
