5 Actors Who Should Voice Mario Instead Of Chris Pratt In New Super Mario Bros Movie
Nintendo should come to their senses before they destroy the Mushroom Kingdom!
It's barely been a few months since Nintendo announced the Mario movie casting, and plenty of people are still waiting for them to reveal that the whole thing was a prank.
The promise of a new, animated movie for this Nintendo icon and his family and friends is something to look forward to, and fans were eager to see who'd take the role of the titular character. Then, we found out it was Chris Pratt, and the entire internet collectively facepalmed so hard it sent shockwaves throughout the web.
Pratt is a good actor and a bona fide Hollywood star, but his bizarre casting is entirely out of place, and the internet instantly rejected it. Nintendo shows no signs of recasting, but if they were to do so, there are plenty of other actors who would be a better choice.
Much like Sonic was forced to be redesigned after fan backlash, perhaps this poor casting decision can be altered too, and if Nintendo decides to go through with it, they'd better call these guys' agents.
For the record, don't expect to see Bob Hoskins on this list.
5. John C. Reilly
How about replacing one Guardians Of The Galaxy MCU star with another? This one is certainly more well suited to the role and is universally beloved by audiences, so he'd be far more likely to gel with the red-clad plumber.
John C. Reilly has had a great career, thanks to his look and demeanour. He's very prone to stealing the show in comedy movies (Step Brothers/Talladega Nights). He has even been noteworthy in dramas (Magnolia/Stan and Ollie), but his most significant credential for this role is surely his iconic turn as the titular Wreck-It-Ralph.
Not only does Reilly have experience voicing an animated figure who lives in a video game world, but he's got a warm and identifiable voice, which makes all of his characters come across as likeable and fun. Seeing the same treatment given to Mario would be great, as fans could receive a wholesome and somewhat fatherly version of the Nintendo mascot.
Additionally, the actor has a wicked sense of humour and great comic timing, so you'd better believe he'd hit the comedy notes like Mario on a Goomba's head.
