If theres anything to be learned from the new Pink Panther movies, its that even someone as talented as Steve Martin has trouble stepping into Peter Sellers shoes. So it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to replace him in the three roles he plays in this Cold War comedy. No, Im not talking about Dr. Strangelove. This film may not be as darkly comic nor as groundbreaking as Stanley Kubricks masterpiece but it can be just as funny at times. The story of a tiny European country that declares war on the United States would require numerous updates and revisions to seem relevant in a post-9/11 world. I doubt any of them would be worth it.
