5 Changes That Would've Improved Fight Club

1. Revise the Ending

Even if you overlook the slightly annoying mind games that 'throw' the gun from Tyler's to Jack's hands, there are still a few niggling concerns in the final scene. Why would a non-fatal gunshot wound to Jack be a fatal blow to Tyler? Metaphorical though his €˜death€™ is, how does a bullet through the neck/jaw/whatever magically rid a man of his alter ego? Surely the only way to kill Tyler would be to kill Jack, too? It€™s by no means a terrible ending- albeit a somewhat slanted view on Hollywood€™s concept of closure- with Jack sustaining his injury for long enough to see Project Mayhem take full effect, taking Marla€™s hand for a surprisingly bittersweet finale. But wouldn€™t it be cool if his last line was actually, €˜€˜You met me at a very strange Tyler my life?€™€™ No? Just me, then.
