5 Great British & Irish Comedy Films You Probably Missed
5. Jackboots On Whitehall
The American's and South Park creator's Matt Stone and Trey Parker are not the only ones to have a crack at the puppet movie genre.
Six years after Team America: World Police graced our screens, the McHenry Brothers presented us with the second, alternative history film on this list, Jackboots on White.
Ewan McGregor voices Chris, a farmer from Kent with abnormally large hands, who aids in the fight to help defend Britain from the invading Nazis.
This less crude and lower budgeted satire features a stellar voice cast including Rosamund Pike, Stephen Merchant, Richard E Grant, Alan Cumming, Dominic West, Richard O'Brien and Timothy Spall as Winston Churchill.
Despite bombing at the box office and mixed reviews, The brother's animated action attempt isn't without its fun and quotable moments, "Sausage-eating w*****s" from Grant's Vicar springs to mind. There is a heartfelt rendition of Jerusalem at Hadrian's Wall and Alan Cumming, not only doubling as the film's antagonist, gives a glorious performance as the infamous Highland hero, exibiting a flawless Australian-Scottish accent.
