With only so much precious celluloid space remaining in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kevin Feige and company have over fifty years of material in the vaults from which to choose. The "Civil War" story arc shows up again and again as a fan favorite for inclusion in the MCU. Civil War was an amazing arc and was a game changer in the world of Marvel Comics. For those who are unfamiliar, the gist of the story is that a superhuman battle in Connecticut results in an explosion that kills a school full of children. This leads to a push for superhumans to register with and work for the government (led by Iron Man). An underground of superhumans (led by Captain America), rebel against registration. The leads to a...you guessed it...civil war. The lines of traditional "heroes" and "villains" are gone and it is simple "pro-registration" vs. "anti-registration". The story ends tragically with the assassination of Captain America. While it made for one of the most entertaining reads Marvel has put out in recent history, this epic tale just wouldn't work as part of the current MCU for a few reasons...
