5 Refreshingly Strong Female Characters in Tony Scott Films

By Francis Barel /

1. Keira Knightley in Domino

Bounty. Hunter. Two words you rarely associate with women. Yet, in Domino, Tony Scott created one of the strongest, most bad-ass characted since Sarah Connor. Tough-as-nail, takes-no-prisoner, name-calling Domino Harvey has all the attitude and coolness of any Action Guy from the 80€™s, yet she keeps her sassiness and feminity. But no one could kick ass better that this bounty hunter, except maybe one of the guys from Expandables€ And that says a lot that you can compare her to the icons of the genre. In the end, what the character Domino is not really a warrior, she€™a fighter. She picks herself up, she fights against life€™s adversities (or what has become adversities for her €“ indeed being a model might not be considered so difficult by the common folks), and she goes on€ Like any hero from Tony Scott€™s movies, she€™s got a fighting spirit, she€™s got will, she€™s got LIFE. Scott€™s characters all had LIFE, and a woman with life should be celebrated even more, as it€™s not that common in movies.
