Cameos have the ability to save a film from mediocrity. Over the years, they have become more and more popular within the film industry, with not only famous actors showing up in films, but sportsman, musicians and the like grabbing the chance to show their faces in an entirely different sphere. Cameos range from the subtle, blink-and-you-miss it style, often exhibited in Marvel films with Stan Lee, to the deliberately overblown, mind blowing and surprising. While the first style can often give the film a lift or something for hardcore fans to smile over, the second style can often define a picture. While the majority of cameo's are done by actors, it's always more surprising to see someone from outside of the world of film take a step into it. 5. Lance Armstrong in Dodgeball

In an absolutely delicious piece of irony, Lance Armstrong turns up at a bar to deliver a mini-inspirational speech to Vince Vaughn's Peter La Fleur. Okay, so he's not quite as good an actor as he is a cyclist, but you can really feel Peter's shame at quitting the team as Armstrong casually compares the situation with the athlete's battle with various cancers. 2004's hilariously over-the-top sports comedy also featured a mini-cameo from Chuck Norris, but you've got to give it to Armstrong for not only providing some laughs at a rather downbeat period of the film, but also influencing the plot in a major way. You'll never quit anything lightly again...
