Love them or hate them, everyone always ends up watching a scary movie. It can be a romantic date that turns into a gory bloody end, a supernatural ghost dragging someones best friend into the closest, a rage infected maniac chasing a half comatose guy with a bad haircut up a flight of endless stairs, a girlfriend that you discover is a flesh eating vampire or a film crew locked in an apartment block with zombies breaking in door by door. I personally love going to the cinema getting spooked out my wits then going home and realising I now have to sleep with the lights on and freaking out when my TV makes that weird banging sound. Lying in bed and regretting every hour the clocks ticks away, but in the end love them or hate them no one can ever get enough of those terrifying moments in movies. Here are the 5 most terrifying moments in movies that left viewers, including me, on the edge of their seats and jumping in fear, throwing popcorn everywhere. Be warned: Spoilers ahead...
5. REC (2007)
So you are locked in an apartment block with a team of fire fighters, a film crew, two police officers, the residents and the only thing you have to arm yourself is a camera, whilst everyone around you slowly becomes a flesh eating demon zombie: tough break. Using its shaky camerawork similar to The Blair Witch Project, REC forces you to concentrate on every single moment of the movie. A perfect set-up to a good scare, you'l agree. As things go from bad to worse to little girls breaking down doors and old ladies biting your throat with everyone screaming in Spanish, this movie is terrifying. The scariest moment? Filled with adrenaline or just really terrified, everyone heads to the apartment block door arguing to get out and then suddenly, without any warning one of the fire fighter lands face first to the lobby. With the few seconds of screaming and the sound of the body hitting the ground, my guess is he fell about 8 flights of stairs. I do not know about you but that totally caught me off guard. Im use to random cheap scares but that was actually one of the most unexpected and terrifying moments of REC, I mean, talk about an express root straight to a faceplant - ouch! Even during my second viewing of REC, I totally forgot until after I got another unexpected fire fighters hard landing.
