The X-Men film franchise is unique among comic book movies. 2000's X-Men was really the first major comic book movie that wasn't about Batman or Superman (Blade came out in 1998 but wasn't as big a hit), and was the first movie that suggested there was something about these comic books that could appeal to a wide audience. Fourteen years later, and the seventh film in this film series, X-Men: Days of Future Past is arriving in theaters. The X-Men films are unique in that they have a shared continuity but many different creative teams have been involved in the making of these movies. While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had different directors, it has had the same production team guiding the creation of the movies, which have been made rapidly in the last six years. The X-Men films have been released at a much slower pace and with input from many different people, and central to this film series has been Hugh Jackman portraying the mutant Logan a.k.a Wolverine. Now that James Mangold has been announced as director of a sequel to 2013's The Wolverine (set to be released in 2017), there are a couple of very important components of the X-Men universe which should be included or addressed in this sequel. The existence of this movie proves we are even farther away from Logan joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we will have to take what we can get. While it is unclear if this will be set after X-Men: Days of Future Past or during the 2 years it took for Wolverine to get back to America, these five points should be addressed, bub.
