5 Ways The Harry Potter Franchise Could Be Expanded Even Further
5. Graphic Novels
Perhaps
it's because they're not a traditionally 'mainstream' medium in Britain, but Harry Potter
is sorely underrepresented in the graphic novel arena. This is particularly
apparent when compared to other franchise juggernauts such as Star Wars and
Doctor Who that have frequently and successfully employed their release to
expand their universes.
Beautifully illustrated editions of Philosopher's Stone and Chamber Of Secrets have made their way to shelves in the last couple of years. Presumably adaptations of the other five novels will follow in due course, but there is precious little else out there that shows anything of Rowling's world in graphic form.
Complementing these existing works could be a whole host of new stories featuring characters old and new in settings both familiar and untouched. Viable possibilities could range from a noir-esque thriller about Aurors fighting dark wizards (young Mad-Eye Moody, anyone?) to a prison adventure behind the walls of Azkaban.
Following British comic tradition and having an ongoing series with multiple different stories could also work, in the vein of childhood favourites like the Dandy and the Beano.
