The struggle here was in deciding which Rocky Horror song to include. Sweet Transvestite came pretty close to making the list, as did Hot Patootie, but at the end of the day, the song that created its own dance number is the one that had to be on here. The Time Warp is a zany, chaotic dance that perfectly sums up the frenetic nature of the musical. The ensemble cast that performs it is a mish-mosh of many types of people, which makes it markedly different from your traditional corps of professional dancers. It creates an inviting atmosphere, a feeling that everyone is allowed to be a part of it. Even the Criminologist gets in on the action after a while!
17. Over The Rainbow - The Wizard Of Oz
There aren't a whole lot of films more iconic than The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy's ruby slippers are on display at the Smithsonian, for God's sake. And while it does have a lot of solid numbers in it, the best of them all is Over the Rainbow. It's the song that everyone remembers, and it's pretty much the exact point that Judy Garland became a star. She had a tremendous ability to emote through song, and her performance her is everything you could wish for. It's just a little girl from Kansas, wishing that she was somewhere else. Astonishingly, Over the Rainbow almost didn't make it into the movie, as chief MGM executives were worried that it slowed down the picture too much.
