Iron Man shocked the world when it made a blockbuster movie out of a superhero that most people hadn't even heard of. Robert Downey, Jr. was brilliant as the titular hero, but he needed a convincing villain and Jeff Bridges provided that amply.

The bad guys in the Marvel Cinematic Universe haven't been great on the whole, but Bridges' Obadiah Stane - who became the Iron Monger - was snide, ruthless and downright nasty.
