2021 will give us not one but two Guillermo del Toro films, with the second being his live-action psychological horror film Nightmare Alley.

Adapted from William Lindsay Gresham's 1946 novel, the film follows an ambitious carnie grifter (Cooper) who teams up with a psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who turns out to be even more cunning and dangerous.

Simply put, Nightmare Alley's ensemble cast is an embarrassment of riches, including Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette, Richard Jenkins, Ron Perlman, Rooney Mara, David Strathairn, Holy McCallany, Mary Steenburgen, and Tim Blake Nelson.

It's easy to have complete faith in del Toro here given that the material sounds like a superb match for his stylistic talents. And better yet, the director has confirmed it will have a "hard R" rating.
