6. The Killer

Netflix

David Fincher re-teams with Netflix for an adaptation of Alexis Nolent's acclaimed 1998 graphic novel series The Killer, starring Michael Fassbender as an assassin slowly losing his mind.

Though the particulars of the production remain firmly under wraps despite shooting ending months ago - the only other announced cast member is Tilda Swinton - it's easy to be excited given that Fincher is re-teaming with Se7en screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker.

Plus, given the acting sabbatical Fassbender's taken over the last few years, it'll be great to see him back on our screens again, and working with a director of such repute no less.

It doesn't feel like it'll be an awards play for Fincher, but should find him back in the pulpy zone he excels in so well.

The Killer releases on Netflix sometime in 2023.

5. Dune: Part Two

Warner Bros.

It was never a guarantee that Denis Villeneuve's two-part Dune project would be completed, but the first film's solid box office performance last year thankfully saw Part Two get the green light.

And better yet, the Dune sequel just recently wrapped principal photography, bringing back the first film's cast alongside Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux, and Christopher Walken.

Though the second half of Frank Herbert's novel is notoriously tricky - as David Lynch knows all too well - if anyone can translate it successfully to the big screen it's Villeneuve.

Either way, it's going to be one hell of a visual spectacle.
