The blonde girl never survives a horror movie. She's always killed, always broken and beaten or stabbed or sliced or something. Fortunately a fledging writer named Joss Whedon (I don't think he's really done anything else... has he?) decided to change the rules and made a beautiful blonde girl the heroine of his own horror movie and later highly successful cult series. He called her Buffy Summers. Buffy's a pretty damn iconic character and all for the best ways possible - right when Girl Power fever was hitting the 1990s, she was front and centre, leading the charge for women in media to be represented just as heroic and strong and powerful as male characters. She means a lot to a lot of people, myself included. Therefore when news began to filter in of a reboot of the character and series/film for the silver screen in the not-too-distant future, quite a lot of people got angry and upset that someone might mess up their heroine. However, I personally think that there's a chance that the girl who picks up the mantle of Buffy Summers, Vampire Slayer after it was played so well by Kirsty Swanson and Sarah Michelle Gellar, could do an absolutely incredible job and reinvent the entire character for a new generation, a generation where the best writing is on television.
