What a surprise it was to see Robert Loggia's William Grey briefly reprise his role from the original movie, appearing at a parade to celebrate the world's victory 20 years prior.

Considering that Loggia not only passed away last December and was suffering from Alzheimer's since 2010, few expected him to show up at all, but he gets a few seconds of screen time to basically wave at the audience and move on.
It was a nice, unexpected moment, even if ultimately it represented the movie's desire to shove as much fan-service on screen as possible.
