7 Baffling Movie Moments That Left Us Scratching Our Heads

5. Raiders of the Lost Ark

It gives me no pleasure whatsoever to pick faults with the first three Indy movies. I mean, obviously I€™d gladly put Crystal Skull in here for any number of glaring idiocies (nuclear blast-proof fridge anyone?) but I am choosing to pretend that movie simply never happened. One glaring error which does occur in Raiders however comes when Indy hitches a ride on a Nazi U-Boat. Our hero is travelling on a ship which is been carrying himself and Marion back to safety when the Nazi€™s (I hate those guys) show up and steal the Ark as well as Indy€™s beloved. Indy then swims the considerable distance between boat and U-boat undetected, which we€™ll let go for now, only to arrive at the German sub at the exact moment that it is about to submerge. It€™s fair to assume therefore that the U-Boat is tightly sealed shut€..from the inside. It€™s unlikely that a back door has been left ajar or a key has been left under the mat. Indy is essentially balancing on a submarine that is about to descend deep into the ocean. Yet when it arrives at its destination, after covering some considerable distance (as shown by the onscreen map), there€™s our Indy refreshed and ready to go. How exactly did he make that considerable journey? The internet suggests that a deleted scene involved Indy latching on to the Sub with his whip and being dragged to the secret base that way. Ignoring the fact that this would put an incredibly strain on Indy€™s arms; it would also only work if the U-boat decided not to go under water the entire journey. Which let€™s face it, is not particularly likely.
