7 MCU Characters Who Were Recast For Sequels

The Replacement: John Slattery

Howard Stark has actually appeared several times in the MCU and been played by three separate actors, including Dominic Cooper - but he doesn't count as a recast as he was only ever playing the young Tony Stark in period productions.

But he was actually the third actor to play him after John Slattery, who appeared in Iron Man 2 onwards and was killed off in Civil War by The Winter Soldier and before him Gerard Sanders.

Sanders is pretty much the forgotten man, though, as he only played Stark in photographs at the beginning of Iron Man. Clearly, when it came to actually giving Stark a character, he wasn't deemed up to it.
