What do you get when you cross Spider-Mans quipping, Wolverines healing factor, Deathstrokes fighting ability, the Punishers arsenal, a ninja, a Looney Toon, a mutant, a chimichanga, a rubber chicken, and Freddy Kreugers complexion? You get Deadpool. Fans of the Merc with a Mouth rejoiced when they were told that, finally, Deadpool was coming to the big screen (because Wolverine: Origins never happened, okay?!) and damn near soiled themselves in joy when footage revealed that the movie is exactly what we all hoped it was going to be. Thanks to the perseverance of Ryan Reynolds, who has now become one of everyone's favourite people ever, the Deadpool movie is finally a thing. It took eleven years in development hell but the Merc has managed to burst out of the inferno as a beautiful, twisted, grenade-happy phoenix. Deadpool wont be the only comic book movie being released by Fox in 2016 of course. X-Men: Age of Apocalypse will take a story-line that was originally only two issues in length and turn it into a two hour film. Dimension hopping, purple paint and all sorts of mutant mind-bending are expected in what will be, at the very least, an entertaining sci-fi romp. But one cannot deny that Deadpool will be the stand-out X-Men universe property in 2016. Take my hand on a journey that will show you why Deadpool has the edge over X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse.
