7 Reasons Ghostbusters: Afterlife Won't Revive The Franchise

2. The Original Cast Will Be Cameos At Best

Much like with the previous point on Paul Rudd, the kid-centric narrative in Afterlife doesn’t look like it has too much room for the original cast in anything more than a cameo capacity, perhaps turning up at the end to save the day.

Whilst some of the original cast returning seems likely, with many all but confirmed, (especially if the IMDB page is to be believed) it would be great to see them feature more prominently in the main story.

Though no one is expecting the likes of Bill Murray to run around blasting ghosts like they did in 1984, it would be nice if this was still somehow their story. Especially as this whole movie’s existence seemed to be geared towards reconnecting fans with the original, and writing the wrongs of the reboot.

Unfortunately, those who love Ghostbusters, and more specifically love the original characters, may not be enticed back if they are portrayed as little more than forgotten ghosts of the past. No pun intended.
