7 Ways To Get Into Star Wars Expanded Universe

By Peter Henne /

1. The New Jedi Order (novel series)

I€™m hesitant to put this series on the list, which is why it€™s last. Not because it isn€™t good; many fans consider this one of the best sets of Star Wars novels out there. And it€™s not because it isn€™t important in the EU. It€™s because it includes 19 novels, and spills over into a few other books. This is the kind of scale I was talking about when I said the EU can scare some Star Wars fans away. Most importantly, these books might be the basis of the upcoming Disney Star Wars films. Given that there is talk of both Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill being involved, the age of the actors would be about right for The New Jedi Order. It's a lot to take in. New species, political intrigue, galaxy-wide war. But it does include older versions of our heroes. And it provides fitting depth to the saga that began with The Phantom Menace, as the Skywalker legacy moves into its third generation. If you€™ve made it through the other entries on the list, then you€™re definitely ready for The New Jedi Order. So there it is. Let me know what you think- are there other EU entries I should have included?
