8 Actors Who Should Come Out Of Retirement For One Last Role

By Jacob Trowbridge /

8. Amanda Bynes

Bynes hasn't been active in the film industry since 2010, which is right around the time she started a pretty public meltdown on Twitter. But we love a good redemption story, and Bynes could very well follow in the footsteps of kindred dysfunctional spirits such as Britney Spears and, to a lesser extent, Lindsay Loahan, by getting the help she needs and bouncing back into the spotlight. Pre-meltdown Bynes was a sugary sweet kid star who transitioned seamlessly into generic rom-coms, but now that she's got a little bit of that bad girl vibe going for her, why not embrace it with a gritty, violent drama about a junkie sociopath trying to kick the habit? (Think of Reese Witherspoon in Wild or even Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted.) Give the girl a meaty part she can really tap into and suddenly it might not seem so far-fetched to hear Amanda Bynes' name at the Academy Awards.
