8 Actors Who Were Paid Huge Salaries For Very Little Work

By Scott Campbell /

Aside from star Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames is the only actor to have appeared in all four entries in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Despite only appearing for a brief cameo appearance in the final scene of Ghost Protocol, the actor must have had some form of iron-clad contract to appear in the movie seeing as he netted $7.7m for a day's work. As ridiculous as it sounds, Rhames himself had this to say about the movie during press rounds for Death Race 2 back in 2010;

"If I'm not paid properly, will I be working again on this one? No. I live a very simple life. If I'm supposed to make $7.7m and they're offering me $3m, I don't know if that's going to work. I did the last one for more than $3m, there's no misunderstanding; it's $7.7m or no!"

This must be a contractual issue. When you consider that Tom Cruise's deal has seen him earn well over $250m from the four movies, it stands to reason that Rhames would have something similar albeit on a much smaller scale. It could have been costlier for the studio to leave him out of the movie altogether had it broken the terms of his contract, but $7.7m for a single scene is mind-boggling. If you're going to pay him that amount of money, just give the man a proper supporting role seeing as he's been an integral part of the franchise since 1996!
