5. Alec Guinness Thought Star Wars Was "Mumbo Jumbo" & Asked For Obi-Wan Kenobi To Be Killed Off
I don't write these articles to ruin your life, I swear, it's just that you deserve to know the truth when it comes to the things you treasure, and in this case that means you need to understand that Alec Guinness hated what is arguably his most memorable and iconic character ever, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Despite the fact that taking on the Jedi master role resulted in a heavy percentage of future Star Wars profits, Guinness thought that George Lucas's movie was all-together "banal," and called it a load of old "mumbo jumbo." Oh, those classic age Hollywood types are so funny aren't they? With all their old fancy movies about people talking discussing politics and actual subjects that matter. Anyway, Guinness didn't like his dialogue, because he thought it made no sense and was somewhat boring, and even asked George Lucas to kill him off so that - in the case of a sequel - he could take a much smaller part. Guinness also made a child cry one time, when the poor little chap told Obi-Wan that he'd seen Star Wars 100 times, only to be told never watch it again. I make myself feel better about all this by pretending that Guinness foresaw Jar Jar. He had his reasons.
