What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object? Well never really know for sure but a throw down between MI6s greatest agent and Treadstones most lethal weapon is likely to be just as unpredictable. For 40 years, James Bond was the Worlds Greatest Secret Agent. John Steed (The Avengers- not, not those Avengers) was good. Ethan Hunt (Mission Impossible) was outstanding. But no one ever came close to 007. That is, until 2002 and The Bourne Identity, which didnt just reset the benchmark for the superspy genre so much as destroy it completely. Sure, Bond was amazing with his trusty Walther PPK and a suitcase full of Qs gadgets but could he take out someone with a ball pen? And thus was born the Bond vs. Bourne debate and the gradual Bourne-ification of James Bond starting with Casino Royale, which featured a 007 less reliant on gadgets than on sheer brute force. But imagine this: Jason Bourne officially declared a threat to the United Kingdom thanks to Treadstones machinations. Enter 007, whose mission is quite simply to find and kill Bourne with extreme prejudice. This could be the superspy version of good-guys-fighting-each-other-before-teaming-up-to-take-down-the-bad-guy. Daniel Craigs Bond is a secret agent who is not averse to making his own decisions, even at the risk of ticking off his commanding officer, thereby making a team-up with Bourne very much in character. The ultimate action movie? You better believe it. Awesomeness Level: 9/10
