What makes this entry so disappointing is that the trailer, alone, leaves so much franchise potential if the movie is successful. It understands that with Hayden Christensen in the lead, it should focus more on plot, action, and special effects than on any of the characters. And with that, we get a hodgepodge of fantastic visuals over a huge scope in a plethora of locations that make the film seem larger than life. With scenes that not only utilize the powers of the individuals in the movies in big ways (the double-decker bus appearing in the desert), it also shows them in the smaller light (zapping the car around traffic on a busy night). The movie, itself, is devoid of any emotion and suspense, even though the action (when there) is fairly top-notch. It ultimately falls on the shoulders of its cast, but with a script that offers nothing new, fresh, and exciting, it was bound to have trouble staying afloat for its entire running time. I, for one, want to see a reboot.
