8 Big Questions About The Future Of DC Film Universe
8. Will A Batman V Joker Movie Ever Happen?
From West to Keaton to Conroy to Bale, every major Batman incarnation has faced off against the Joker at one point or another. These are always the most memorable of stories, too, given the electric nature of the villain, but in the DCEU, nothing of the sort has yet been hinted at.
And that's pretty odd. Why hire a heavy-hitter like Jared Leto if you're not going to give him the meatiest of stories to tackle? The Joker can hardly go toe-to-toe with Superman, or Wonder Woman, or The Flash, so if he's not pitted against the Dark Knight, will the character be relegated to minor roles in Suicide Squad sequels? It seems odd to waste the character in this way.
We know that Ben Affleck's solo Bat-flick will feature villain Deathstroke (leaving little room for the Joker), and that's rumoured to be coming out in 2018, so we've got a minimum of two years to wait before a Batman/Joker movie can even start being developed.
That same Batman movie is also rumoured to feature multiple Bat-villains in small roles, so a future movie featuring the Clown Prince could be teased here - but aside from this, it looks like DC's focus is firmly on building its heroes (the Suicide Squad included) and the Joker won't be as integral to the DCEU as he has been to other Batman iterations.
