8 Big Questions About The Future Of DC Film Universe
3. Is Lois Lane Going To Die?
Batman v Superman's Flash cameo and Knightmare sequence were among the film's most interesting, for the sheer amount of questions they posed about exactly where the DCEU is headed.
The scenes in question feature Bruce Wayne receiving a laughably cryptic message from the speedster ("Lois Lane. She's the key! You're right about him. Fear him!") and a dystopian dream sequence of a world ruled by a tyrannical Superman.
In the latter scene, Superman also mentions to Bats that "she was my world. And you took her from me", in a not-so-subtle reference to Lois Lane. Both these snippets of dialogue paint a very clear picture of Lois's trajectory going forward; she has to die for the Knightmare to be fulfilled.
Look at it this way. Superman is in love with Lois - and she's killed, and it's Batman's fault. Superman goes nuts, taking over the world and ruling by force. The Justice League concoct a plan - send The Flash back in time to inform Bruce that Lois "is the key" to Superman's humanity.
But will all this play out as expected? It'd certainly be fascinating to see the Knightmare future expanded upon and placed into context, but exactly how Batman could inadvertantly kill Lois is anyone's guess. Watch this space!
