8. Erik Killmonger - Black Panther

From what we were led to believe, Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger took his last breaths as Black Panther rolled to a close in 2018. After a fierce battle with T'Challa, Killmonger opted against having his wounds healed, removed a spearhead to bring on his impending demise, and asked to be buried in the ocean amongst his ancestors.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has offered up a rogues gallery greatly varied in quality, Erik Killmonger was one of the absolute best villains conjured up by the MCU so far. And for those who were hoping to have seen more from the character, it appears that Killmonger maybe isn't quite as dead as we were all led to believe.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Courtney B. Vance - the husband of Black Panther actress Angela Bassett - indicated that Michael B. Jordan is returning for Black Panther 2.

After his wife was asked who would be returning for this sequel, Vance answered, "Just go ahead and say it. Yes, everyone will be there, including Michael B."

Of course, this comment was made before the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman last year. We do know that Marvel Studios is still pushing ahead with Black Panther 2, and that T'Challa will not be recast, but Marvel is currently trying to figure out how to make this follow-up picture work.

In a narrative sense, Wakandan technology means that anything is possible in terms of bringing back Erik Killmonger - and Courtney B. Vance's comments suggest that maybe Killmonger's ultimate fate was not what we were led to believe.
