8 Films That Were Supposed To End The Series (But Got Sequels Anyway)
5. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later
How long until the next one: Four years
Number of movies after this: Three (including one sequel and two remakes)
How they tried to end it: Laurie kills Michael Myers
After a bunch of crummy sequels, Halloween H20 finally kills Michael Myers for good. But then again Jason and Freddy were also killed off "for good," so nobody should have believed this for a second.
H20 is a surprising return to form, bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead role. It's a pretty spectacular finale, and seeing Laurie Strode kick some ass is hugely satisfying. At the end of an amazing final battle, Laurie finally gets her revenge and actually kills Michael Myers! There's no chance of another sequel because she literally cuts Michael's head off. They couldn't follow up on that, right?
Just four years later they followed up on that with Halloween: Resurrection. How? In a monumentally stupid retcon, it's revealed that the guy Laurie beheaded was actually just some dude who Michael swapped his mask with, so Michael is still alive. Ugh.
