After Dark Films, the independent motion picture studio based out of Los Angeles, is set to release 8 fantastic new titles in theatres as part of its €˜8 Films To Die For€™ horrorfest. With a real plethora of the most spine chilling, suspense laden, and fear inducing films packaged up for the event, After Dark Films are continuing on with what is now a multiyear event. The first of which started back in January 2006, when collaboration between the studio and Lionsgate Entertainment saw them take up responsibility for theatrical marketing and releases. All films are set for release in theatres and on demand 16th October, and it is all set to be a gore and terror stricken affair. The titles included in the upcoming horrorfest are: Bastard €“ Homage is paid to the blood curdling slasher movies of the 80s. Set in a secluded mountain village, portraying a sense of claustrophobia, fingers are pointed between strangers when a mysterious masked murderer starts to make his presence known throughout the village. Murder In The Dark €“ A new age locked room mystery that camps itself in the dividing territory of horror and thriller. To get an authentically focussed and isolated feel, the film was shot in a medieval castle ruin in Italy. A place in which all the crew and actors where cut off from all the distractions of the modern age. With a general narrative to follow, the script was dependable on what choices the actors took within the story. This experimental shooting style focuses on a group of young people who decide to play a game of €˜Murder In The Dark€™. Things take a turn for the worse when someone in the gang takes the game a little too literally! Lumberjack Man €“ Horror infused with instances of humor and relative comic relief, a contrast in tones that helps to shock the audience when the frights come along. The story drops in on a group of staff working on a Christian Camp, where horror (and laughs) take hold when a demon logger has a taste for blood. Suspension - High-school student Emily has a talent for horrific and gruesome drawings. Whilst left alone babysitting her brother, their father escapes from a mental hospital where he has been living after a bloody killing spree. He returns home and targets Emily and her friends on another killing rampage. The Wicked Within - A vengeful demon takes possession of a family who are coping with the death of a little girl. One by one they are forced to confess their lies and face the consequences of their sins. Striking fear, The Wicked Within will take its audience on a frightening journey beyond their deepest imagination. Unnatural - This is sure to have the audience screaming in their seats in this horrifying game of cat and mouse. Set in the cold stark Alaskan wilderness, an experiment gone wrong sees a genetically modified creature escape and target a group of residents. Wind Walkers - A horror film that wanders outside the normal constraints of the genre, and looks to mix scare tactics with the spirituality of Native Americans. A US soldier is distraught to find out that his best friend and fellow ex POW has gone AWOL. It is when he is out in the wilderness with members of his friend's family that they are attacked by a Native American curse. One that seems to have roots in his ancestral past. Re-Kill - Perhaps one of the most highly anticipated film of the festival, Re-Kill is a post apocalyptic look at the world following an outbreak which has distinguished 85% of the human race. In this cruel dystopia Re-Animates and Humans are battling out in urban guerilla warfare, with the future of the human race at risk of a second outbreak. After Dark Films are also on the lookout to crown a Queen of Horror for the festival - A Scream Queen to Die For. Open to both men and women applicants are asked to submit a 90 second video showing either their scariest, sexiest, strangest, campiest, or down right loudest scream. As well as being bestowed with the title of 'Queen', the winner will also receive $10,000. You can find out more details on how to enter over at the 8filmstodiefor.com/scream.
