8 Indispensable Harry Potter Movie Moments That Weren't In the Books

6. Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkban - Ahh, Young Love

As I said before, the people in charge of this movie did a very good job of making it a movie that happens to share the name and some plot elements of the third Harry Potter book, but not much else. They left out the mystery of the Firebolt, screwed up Harry's use of underage magic, ascribed Lupin's fondness for Harry to a friendship with his mother and never once mentioned James Potter's act of heroism for which Snape loathed him. There's also the matter of Hermione. I once read a spoof called Hermione Sue and the Prisoner of Cuaron in which the author relentlessly pointed out how Hermione Granger was the hot main character all of a sudden. It is true that she suddenly wears hair products, likes hoodies and, worst of all, steals the line in which Ron totters to his foot and broken leg and tells a mass murderer that he will have to kill Ron Weasley if he wants to get to Harry. So, why do I like this one scene so much? Because I had been hoping for Ron and Hermione to get together since the Yule Ball and this scene in which they first hold hands (...quite awkwardly...quite by accident...let's never speak of that again...) shows just how unlikely any real romance between them at the age of 13 would have been.
