8 Mistakes From Previous Versus Movies That Batman V Superman Should Avoid

4. Don't Take The Characters Too Far Out Of Their Natural Habitat

Offending 'Vs' Movies: Alien Vs Predator Very often, a huge part of what makes a character iconic is the domain it inhabits. Tarzan wouldn't be the same outside of the jungle (in fact, that's been the point of several stories); the Lone Ranger wouldn't be the same outside of the old west. Yes, it may be interesting to take them into a different location and see how they fit in there; no one wants to see the exact same thing over and over. Even so, any new territory must share certain characteristics with the old in order for the character to really function there. It was a bit bewildering, then, to see the main action of Alien Vs Predator take place in the Antarctic. The central conceit of a specifically designed Predator hunting ground on Earth, populated with Aliens in order to present the most formidable prey to hunters-in-training, was fine; but why on one of the coldest locations on the planet? The existing Predator movies - the first set in the South American jungle, the second in inner city LA during a heat wave - made it very clear that these creatures are drawn to hot and humid areas. Taking them to a climate directly opposite to that seems a little illogical, unless we write this off as another part of the test for the trainee Predators. All indications are that Batman V Superman won't make a similar misstep, as it would seem the action will primarily be confined to Gotham and Metropolis. But there is the matter of those desert scenes we've seen in the trailers, which may or may not be dream sequences.
