8 Notoriously Bad Comic Book Movies With Overlooked Positives

7. Blade II (2002)

The Movie:Blade is a movie about a "good vampire" who fights the bad ones, and Blade II is that again. Both times this character is played by Wesley Snipes. Did you know that this one was directed by Guillermo del Toro? Weird, huh? Here's a sequel that didn't quite please people in the same way that the original did, opting to include more gory horror moments than you can shake Tom Savini at. Watching this seemed to make people tired, though, because there's only so much fighting you can take before wishing somebody would leap out of the screen and lop your head off with a broadsword. I fantasise about this quite a lot. The Overlooked Positive: Donny Yen, who is a martial arts legend of sorts, choreographed that endless stream of fight sequences, and - for the most part - they're awesome. Maybe Blade II didn't exactly cling to an absorbing narrative, but this is a great action movie - and gross-out in the best possible sense (if the sense is "disgusting"). There's also a whole host of very Guillermo del Toro-esque enemies, such as vampire ninjas, which Blade fights at the beginning of the movie, 'cause that's how movies open in the 21st century. Look: All that sword spinnin' is damn cool, right? This is honest to God pulp, and with no apologies necessary. I mean, if you want to live in a world where we "complain" about vampire ninjas, then be my guest, but you can count me out right now. Right now, you hear?
