8 Sequels Teased In Post-Credits Scenes (That Never Actually Happened)

7. X-Men 4

I'll be the first to admit that Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand was a considerable step down from the cohesiveness of Bryan Singer's first two X-Men films, but it still had its pleasures, one of which was a fantastic post-credits scene. The film itself ends with Magneto getting his powers, but after the credits, we discover Professor X's voice being spoken by a comatose patient, implying that his mental constitution is so strong that he couldn't even be disintegrated properly. Does it undo what was without question a pretty ballsy move in the film? Sure, but Patrick Stewart fits the role of Xavier so well that I wouldn't want to see an X-Men sequel without him. That said, it's been 7 years since X-Men 3 and we still don't have X-Men 4 despite claims from executives that, yes, it is still being planned. While Stewart will be appearing in First Class follow-up Days of Future Past next year (which will see old and new X-Men timelines become linked through time travel), one can only hope that renewed interest around the contemporary X-Men characters will provide the fuel for either Matthew Vaughn or Bryan Singer to get to work on X-Men 4. Still, we won't hold our breath, and soon enough we'll be coming up to a decade since the last proper sequel.
