8 Spider-Man: Homecoming Plot Spoilers We Already Know
8. It's Not All Set In The Present Day
While the majority of Homecoming will take place after the events of Civil War, with Spidey being told by Tony Stark that he's allowed to hang on to his fancy new costume, there are a number of notable moments in the trailer that suggest the movie will be skipping back and forward in time to see how Peter Parker started out.
In one of the trailer's more action-packed scenes, Bokeem Woodbine's Shocker punches some school buses towards Spider-Man. What's even more interesting than the destruction of government property though is that neither of the characters is wearing their full costume.
As you can see, this early version of Shocker is going for a much more toned-down approach to his outfit than the all-yellow version that has been circulating the web via leaked set images. The same is true of Spidey who, in this scene, is wearing the homemade outfit that Tony Stark finds hidden in his bedroom.
This implies that we'll be seeing an evolution of Parker's character, as well as the villains he is up against, which could mean that Marvel has learned from their mistakes when it comes to 2D antagonists.
This is an interesting narrative approach to take in what could have been a straightforward A to B story and hopefully, it doesn't mean that we have to sit through an extended Uncle Ben sequence for the third time.
