8 Things Everybody Missed In The Batman V Superman Trailer
8. Metropolis: Currently Under Construction
The first frame of the Batman V Superman trailer is a rather appropriate establishing shot, offering a glimpse at Metropolis three years after Zod and Supes thrashed it out in irresponsibly apocalyptic fashion. Immediately, your eyes are drawn to the monument in the foreground, a new addition to the city that, it turns out, is a well-lit statue of Superman that some complete swine has tagged with graffito.
What there is to see in the background is more familiar: the modern structures of a glistening city lit up under a veil of dark clouds. This is Metropolis rebuilt, with the town architect once again clearly taking design inspiration from whoever's been building New York.
One object stands out - the idle crane towering over a half-built structure on the left of the shot. It suggests Metropolis is still partially under re-construction, and that the effects of what happened three years previous linger (something that may offer one explanation for the Man of Steel's apparent growing unpopularity).
