Consider Sergeant Al Powells backstory: it was late one night and this 13-year-old kid had a toy gun but goddamnit it looked real real enough in the dark, and by the time Al realized his mistake, the world was shy a future NRA member. They teach you everything at the Academy except how to live with a mistake, and following the incident Al couldnt bring himself to draw his gun ever again, but you know what? Christmas is the time for miracles. When madman Karl reappears during the climax (despite having been left hanging from a chain earlier in the film), Al digs deep and rediscovers not only his love for firearms but how much fun it is to gun down a killcrazy foreigner whos pure evil and nothing more.
