5. Universal Turning Their Horror Icons Into Superheroes

Nobody wanted this. Or rather, once we realised Universal were plumbing the depths of their back catalogue to resurrect past horror villains as superheroes, it was alarm bells all round.

Because actually, taking The Mummy, Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon etc. and doing a shlocky-but-fun hammer horror would've worked a treat. It certainly did with Freddy Vs. Jason, though obviously it'll never win any awards.

Sadly though, we not only got word that Universal wanted some of that Marvel money - and were prepared to retrofit whichever known names in their possession to do it - but they released a SHOCKINGLY bad "superhero action trailer" to prove their intentions.

Bonus points if you can sit through the "Thou shalt rise again!" music swell without laughing.

Understandably, and thankfully, this entire endeavour was taken out back and shot after The Mummy lost $95 million.
