8 Times MCU Cast Members Worked Together Elsewhere

8. Benedict Cumberbatch And Martin Freeman, Robert Downey Jr And Jude Law - Sherlock And Sherlock Holmes

Ever since Benedict Cumberbatch joined the MCU as Doctor Strange in 2016, fans eagerly awaited the moment he and Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark shared the screen. This eventually happened in Infinity War and later in Endgame. Two great actors, two great characters, and two great Sherlocks.

Cumberbatch has portrayed Sherlock in the BBC hit show of the same name since 2010, bringing the timeless character into the modern world. Robert Downey Jr, on the other hand, portrayed the famous detective first in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes in 2009, and Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows in 2011. These movies also featured Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, who happens to play Benedict Cumberbatch's love interest Christine Palmer in Doctor Strange.

Not only are the two Sherlocks among the MCU cast, both of their respective Watsons are too. Martin Freeman, who compliments Cumberbatch's Holmes has appeared in both Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther as government agent Everett K. Ross. Robert Downey Jr's Watson, Jude Law, had to wait a bit longer for his MCU debut, appearing as Yon-Rogg in 2019's Captain Marvel.

As long as both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's characters are still alive in the MCU there is an outside chance Sherlock and Watson may meet. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law.
