8 Upcoming Movies That Had Massive Reshoots
Don't worry about Rogue One.
"Reshoots" is one of the dirtiest words you can utter in Hollywood, because the mere suggestion of it implies to journalists and film fans that an upcoming film is in deep, deep trouble.
While there are countless cases of reshoots stemming from a botched production (Josh Trank's Fantastic Four, for instance) and a desperate bid to scramble it, often they are factored into filming before cameras ever start rolling, especially on bigger movies.
The sheer scale and complexity of $150+ million movies in particular dictates that it's virtually impossible for everything to go off without a hitch, and so going back to clarify plot points or character motivations is really just par for the course.
These upcoming movies, from smaller-scale high-concept flicks to gigantic blockbusters, all underwent significant reshoots, and whether or not the end product ends up being good, there's not necessarily reason to be worried.
Here are 8 upcoming movies that had massive reshoots...
8. Suicide Squad
The Reshoots: Reports emerged in April that the highly anticipated comic book film was undergoing substantial reshoots to soften the edges and lighten the tone, following the middling reception to Batman v Superman's grim style and narrative.
Star Jai Courtney refuted this, claiming that the reshoots were to add more action, which was backed up by writer-director David Ayer, who claimed that the studio love the movie and asked him what else he wanted to add in.
Will It Be Any Good?: There's every chance the movie could end up being a gigantic mess, but what's been shown off so far looks very encouraging, even if it's a little hard to know what to think of the film's tone.
It'd be a shock if it wasn't better than Batman v Superman, by any stretch.
