When every major Hollywood movie is a remake, sequel or otherwise based on some pre-existing property (Emojis... seriously...) it's easy to be cynical by default at the future of mainstream cinema. The next few years see movies as utterly uninspired as an eighth Fast And Furious, a two-part Divergent finale, the second Smurfs reboot this decade, countless live-action remakes of classic fairytales (including two Jungle Books) and another Pirates movie that's bringing Orlando Bloom back because at this point f*ck it. Heck, even Pixar's getting in on the "Who actually wants to see this?" act with Toy Story 4. Now negativity (particularly motivated by idealism) has its place, but sometimes we can all get a bit caught up finding the takeaways from Hollywood's junk drawer that you miss the really cool stuff that could be coming our way. In an attempt to combat that (we all love cinema, after all) let's try and look at the positives in the future of film hidden in amongst all the bland, uninspired tat. Here are eight upcoming movies that, based on the promise of the talent involved and what's been learned about them so far, could be some of the best, most exciting movies in the coming years. I'm not talking about the obvious big hitters (if you're not excited for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Captain America: Civil War then you're beyond hope), but the movies that are further out or are otherwise being ignored that really deserve some proper hype.
