9 Actors Who Prepared For Movie Roles In The Worst Possible Way

3. Martin Lawrence Nearly Kills Himself Getting Into Shape - Big Momma's House

You usually hear about various actors pushing their bodies to crazy extremes in an attempt to accurately portray everything from real-life freak athletes, to live action comic book heroes on the big screen. What you don't tend to stumble upon every day is the news of a thespian nearly killing themselves to get into shape to play the leading role in a comedy flick - a part that required them to wear an 80lbs fat suit, no less.

But, that's precisely what went down when Martin Lawrence decided in 1999 that he needed to be in absolutely tip top condition coming into the shooting of Big Momma's House. Whilst training for the performance that would require him to wear the aforementioned prosthetics, Lawrence chose to work out whilst wearing a big plastic bag in 100-degree weather. In the end, though, Lawrence would suddenly collapse due to the disastrous combination, falling into a coma due to severe heat-related exhaustion.

He'd thankfully make a full recovery, but nearly killing yourself to get in shape for a part is likely not the best way to get started on a project.
