6. Cate Blanchett In Hot Fuzz

Upon a first watch, there's no real thought put to just who it is that plays the girlfriend of Nicholas Angel in Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz. With a masked faced, a handful of lines, and barely a minute of time on screen, it's no wonder that audiences barely pay any attention to Janine.

Behind that mask, however, is easily the biggest star in the entire movie. You see, the person playing Janine is none other than Cate Blanchett.

Essentially, Janine's part of a prologue that is designed to showcase the character of Angel, his dedication and obsession with his work, and the major plot point of him moving areas to a strange, small village in England's West Country.

With two Academy Awards to her name - not to mention a further five nominations - Blanchett is rightly viewed as one of the greatest actors of her generation. In Hot Fuzz, you'd be forgiven for not even noticing this ridiculously talented Australian.

Not just Cate Blanchett, mind, for Hot Fuzz also features a cameo from Blanchett's Lord of the Rings and Hobbit director, Peter Jackson, as a Santa Claus.
