9 Divisive Movies That Should've Been TV Shows
9. The Book Of Eli
The Book of Eli was a good movie but, ultimately, a pretty darn forgettable one. The film starred Denzel Washington, Mila Kunis, and Gary Oldman, set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, in which the titular Eli carries a book that is the last hope for humanity.
As is often the case however, taking a world that is so unique and layered as a post-apocalyptic wasteland, and explaining it in two hours or less can be very difficult. We didn't get to see much of said wasteland in The Book of Eli, minus a few settlements and some run-ins with bandits.
Had The Book of Eli been adapted as a TV series instead, it would have allowed for Gary Oldman's villainous Carnegie to be a bit more nuanced, as well allowing us to see more of Eli's treacherous journey through the wasteland. It's an interesting world and could have been much better explored across various episodes.
Even though there are more post-apocalyptic video games than any one man could count, it's a setting movies don't often explore. As such, it would be fresh ground for a TV series, and who wouldn't want to watch Denzel for half a dozen hours?
